Description :A 10 minute walk from the front door of the holiday home will have you down on the waters edge. At the pier there are regular ferries to both Inishbofin (10 minute boat trip) and to Tory. Inishbofin is a small, enchanting island far removed from the hustle and bustle of modern-day life. It has beautiful white sandy beaches and unusual cliffs and caves. The island is a birdwatcher’s delight, supporting a population of the rare and elusive corncrake, while large numbers of barnacle geese fly in from the Arctic each autumn to remain for the winter. Tory Island is 9 miles off the mainland. It has been inhabited since the earliest times and is rich in archaeological and monastic sites and includes the remains of a round tower. Tory is famous for its school of ‘primitive’ painters who were encouraged by the internationally famous painter, the late Derek Hill.

Gaeltacht Region:

Both Tory and Inisbofin are Irish speaking islands. Indeed the holiday home itself is located in the heart of one of Donegal's main Gaeltacht area - enabling the visitor to absorb the culture and heritage of this unique region where Irish is still the main everyday language.

North West Donegal:

All around the cottage you will find rugged peninsulas, clean beaches and towering mountains. The visitor will find numerous peaceful roads, country lanes and mountain tracks to walk. West Donegal is famous for its natural beauty - from the majesty of Glenveagh National Park to the wild Atlantic views along Bloody Foreland. Magheraroarty Strand is a popular venue for windsurfing. There are 2 golf courses within a 20 minute drive of the holiday cottage - at Falcarragh and Dunfanaghy.

The cottage is close to Errigal Mountain (hillwalking) and the Dunlewey Activity Centre.
